In our new series "Judges", we see God immediately call Gideon with a clear message. Even amid Gideon's questions and doubt, God responds, "I am sending you." The Lord promised to be with Gideon while he carried out what God told him to do.
God began a work in Gideon's family first. Once we give God our "yes" to the call on our lives, we will be challenged to address things within ourselves before we can fully walk the journey God has laid before us. The struggles are difficult, painful and require a greater dependence on God. On the other side of the challenge is deeper roots of faith and a closer walk to the One who will never leave us. When we desire to follow Christ and seek God, we will find Him.

God does not call His people to settle in and get comfortable. He calls us to obey Him regardless of how we feel about it. Our purpose is to walk in the calling God gives and to bring glory to Him with our lives.

We, as followers of Christ, are God's voice to the world. He is using us to speak and show truth. God chooses to use the flawed and imperfect people of faith, not because we have done anything for ourselves, but to show He makes all things new. Do not miss a chance to let others see your transformed heart and the One who gave it to you. The time is now to walk confidently in step with the Holy Spirit's leading and let others see God's grace that covers sin.

Loving others makes everything else line up with God's will. There is an urgency for the spread of the gospel. True followers of Christ who know the truth are called to love the world and share this life transforming truth with them. When the Holy Spirit leads your life, others see a new life in you because of Jesus. In our pursuit of Christ, in the truth of scripture we see time is running out and we hear the call to see life through a different lens than before. Hold nothing back in your love for others or in the race set before you.
Wake up + Take off + Put on = Be ready.

Scripture repeatedly points to the importance and significance of fasting. Jesus taught on the heart behind fasting and how it is about the desire to have a deeper dependency on God rather than to follow a tradition. Christ came to set us free from the bondage of sin and the slavery to the law. When we perform for people to look like a lover of God instead of taking the grace offered to us by Christ's death and resurrection, we look just like the Pharisees we are so often appalled by.
True freedom comes in trusting God transforms our heart into one that desires His will above our own. Transformation begins when we place our faith in Christ and continues as we grow closer to Him.

In our lives, much like the disciples lives, we have opportunities to distinguish God moments. If we are focused on Christ and our hearts are seeking Him, we can better recognize the glory of God and the ways we are gifted to worship and honor Him with our lives.
See the God moments. Don't ignore the Holy Spirit. Don't dismiss God over and over. Seize the times you know Jesus is showing His glory and make Him known in your life to the world.

Fight for the joy. Don't give up the fight. Joy comes when your heart is satisified with Christ. Happiness is circumstantial; joy is trust in God. We can consider our trials a joy because we know the end result is relying more on Jesus. Our roots of faith will grow deeper in each season of seeing His faithfulness in our lives.
