As we look into the wisdom of the Proverbs, Keith sums up the passage in three life giving points:
1. Guard your heart.
2. Avoid corrupt speech.
3. Look straight ahead.

As followers of Christ, we are supposed to be reflections of God's image. Nothing happens by chance. Each of us are here for an intended purpose. We all have meaning; our meaning is to reflect the image of our Creator. When our hearts are divided, we will not see His glory. It is when we allow God to search the depths of our hearts we begin to see how the holiness of God reflects His glory.
Is your life a reflection or a rejection of God's glory?

In the final words of Paul's letter to the believers in Ephesus, he sends a clear message that says we will not be able to stand without God. We have an enemy that seeks to destroy us. In order to follow Jesus and withstand the attacks thrown our way, we have to be prepared. Paul describes what the armor of God is, how to wear it and what benefit it is to those who walk with Christ.

Life is hard. Following Christ will never be easy, but it will always be worth it. Jesus calls us to count the cost of a life turned over to Him. Difficult things in the life of a believer will draw a deeper dependence for God out of them. Fully entrusting your life to Jesus and walking in the truth of scripture will point others to Him.
Embracing the hard things in life and continuing to build God's kingdom for His glory alone is a result of joy and redemption only the Holy Spirit can give.

God desires our complete dependence on Him. He loves us and wants us to fully trust in Him, especially when life is difficult. The obedience of Christ that was displayed, along with the grace of God, outweighs any disappointment or heartache from an earthly relationship. In the holiness of God, we can see that He alone is what will sustain our hope and meet us where we are.

As Paul explains in his letter to the Philippians, as a follower of Christ, we are called to walk in humility and love each other. It is difficult to work as one body if we are selfish and inwardly focused. Jesus led by example and took the form of a servant to show us what true humility looks like.

God's call on marriage mirrors Jesus' love and sacrifice for the Church. There is joy in true sacrifice and a desire to serve one another from a place of genuine compassion. Being grace filled and forgiving to one another in a marriage is a picture of Christ's unconditional love for us.

Ask yourself, "Am I selfish or am I a Christ follower?". As Paul mentions in his letter, we bear a new nature. We are now image bearers of God, who is completely set apart and righteous. In living a life that is in pursuit of Jesus, we are called to die to our former, inwardly focused selves and live for Christ.
As Christians, we often look at our lives and think we are "okay" because we are living pretty good. We rarely recognize deception that has taken root in our hearts and walled us into our own desires. Paul challenges believers in Ephesus to examine their hearts and remember our lives are not our own if we follow Christ. We are called to lay aside our selfishness and allow the Spirit to renew our thoughts and attitudes.

In the Parable of the lost son, we are reminded by the truth of scripture that we are never beyond the sight or hand of God. It is never too late to turn back to God with a contrite spirit. Even one sinner dying to self causes rejoicing in the prescence of the angels. God extends an overwhelming amount of grace that is given when a repentant heart surrenders to Christ.
