This is the invitation portion of the message from Wednesday, Sept 21. 

Jesus has been talking to the Pharisees, but now He's turned His attention to the disciples.  Share what Jesus has done in your life.  And if you want to know what to share, read His Word.

The choice to follow Jesus could be a choice that gets you killed.  So, why choose Jesus? And why tell others?

If you choose to let God into your life, He can make you new in an unbelievable and incredible way.  But, if you choose to cut God off, He will let you do that, too.  He still cares, but He will let you go. 

Allow God to transform your heart.  The prodigal son didn't have to work for forgiveness; he just had to repent and ask for it.

The Pharisees didn't know the law, and they certainly didn't know the heart of the law.  They made it all about themselves and making themselves superior to others. They didn't understand that Jesus to be our rest, not just give us rest.

It's not just about the rules; it's about the heart.  We are missing the most important part -- it's not what we did, it's what He did. He so desperately wants to save us He pursues us.

The life of a follower is new.  You can't put your old ways into your new self.  You can't patch Jesus over the places in your life you need him to be while not being completely changed. 

You have to be transformed.

Jesus knew Levi's heart.  Jesus knew Levi wanted to be a follower and all he needed was the invitation.  Following Jesus is hard, but Levi knew it would be worth it.

The Pharisees didn't want to associate with sinners anymore.  Church was about coming to get a "feel good" before going home.  But we must be a group of people who reach out to people who don't understand, who don't look like us, and who are lost.

This man had been told his entire life that his paralysis was a result of his sin.  Did he even think he was able to go to God?  Did he think Jesus would even speak to him? He'd been taught he was unworthy, but all that was about to change.
