The story of Joseph is about more than just God being faithful, because we already know He will be faithful.  This story is also about Joseph being faithful.  There's an extreme makeover going on in Joseph's life.  Something is going on that doesn't look pretty right now.  

The question is: when you don't understand what is happening, will you be like Joseph and be faithful to God?

Paul's words imply hard times and attacks are coming.  He understood that because hard times were coming there was a great need for our hearts to be clean. 

The scary thing is you can go to church everyday and still not get it.  Because the real goal is following Jesus in a way that makes everything else infinitely less valuable.

Jealousy often breaks up relationships in churches and families. Jealousy and hate.  They build to the point that you want to commit murder. Joseph didn't do anything wrong to deserve what he got, and yet he stayed faithful to the Lord.

Maybe part of the reason Paul was in prison was so he could write these letters that, even now, we are able to read.  Why would he write?  Because the Gospel wasn't about just Paul sharing; it was about the message continuing on after he was gone.  It can't be about one man. It has to be about Jesus.

Everything in your life is preparing you to glorify God. Sometimes we don't see how it all fits because of our perspective. 

Jesus came to us.  The King became a slave.  And if we are going to be like Christ we should elevate everyone else while moving ourselves to the bottom.

You are not alone.  Even in the stormy sea, even when I'm bitter, even when I feel alone or put myself in a position to be alone, The Lord continues to teach us…just like he did Jonah.  And He cares about our enemies just as much as He cares about us.

When Paul write Philippians he's in prison and chained to a Roman guard.  And, yet, even from prison, Paul wants to talk about how good God is to us. Paul's view wasn't just of prison, it was of people hearing the gospel at all cost.

That feeling of isolation we get sometimes can be a good thing.  Away from everything. It's the opportunity for God to speak loud and clear. 

God showed Jonah grace, and put Jonah in isolation.
